Project Description The CERP generates ISO 14064 Validated and Verified carbon offsets for the voluntary market by re-establishing degraded forest in protected riparian zones and municipal parklands throughout the District of Maple Ridge, BC, Canada. The project activity consists of selectively removing existing Red Alder (Alnus rubra) and brush vegetation, planting long-lived, site-matching high-productivity native tree species singly or in clusters, and enhancing the growth and survival of these trees through silvicultural best practices. In this manner, the pre-disturbance, high-carbon retention native forest ecosystem will be reestablished, replacing the A. rubra and invasive brush regime that is currently in place and declining to very low carbon sequestration levels. |
