Nitrogen for Methane Elimination from Pneumatics, Pool C
Nitrogen can be utilized as a replacement instrument gas to power pneumatic devices at oil and gas well sites. A cryogenic tank is placed at the well site and tied into existing pneumatic systems. The nitrogen is deployed as a gas at the pressures and quantities needed for everyday operations. No external power is required to operate the system, just thermodynamics. Nitrogen is a clean, inert gas that constitutes 78% of the air we breathe. By applying a gas equivalency ratio to the volume of nitrogen consumed, the system generates extremely accurate information on the amount of methane mitigated. Nitrogen is permitted as an acceptable project type under Flexibility Mechanism #2 in the Protocol. This is an aggregate project constituting multiple oil and gas well sites.
